2-Day Vacation Package
Day 1: Venture to ”Seip Mounds” and view the culture of the Hopewell Indians (100BC-AD 500) that built mounds for burials. Visit the “Story Mound” that was erected by prehistoric Adena Indians (800 BC-AD 100) that was excavated in 1897. Next, plan to visit the Adena Mansion and Gardens, home of the sixth governor and one of the State’s first two U.S. Senators, Thomas Worthington. Tour the mansion, gardens and museum which displays the tomahawk of the Shawnee Indian leader, Tecumseh. Take in lunch at one of our downtown café’s such as Grinders Café, Renick’s family restaurant, or Carl’s Townhouse. Enjoy shopping in our downtown historic shopping district.
Day 2: Learn the cultures of the Legacy Mound Builders at the Hopewell Culture National Historical Park. Tour the mounds, museum displaying a video of the “Mound Builders” with exhibits and artifacts. Last but not least, enjoy the #1 Outdoor Drama in the Nation, “Tecumseh”, located at the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheater. Take the back stage tour prior to the performance with cast members of the set. After your tour, enjoy the bountiful Buffet Dinner at the Tecumseh Restaurant Terrace located on the grounds. Do your Shopping at the Mountain Gallery Gift Shop for souvenirs and gifts of the evening. Live and witness this epic story of the Legendary Shawnee Leader and his struggles to preserve his tribal homelands.
